Mumbai’s Victorian Gothic and Art Deco are included in UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The decision was made in the 42nd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Manama, Bahrain on Saturday.
After Elephanta Caves and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, this is the third such site of Mumbai which has been included in the list of World Heritage.
After this decision, UNESCO tweeted, “Just as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mumbai’s Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Insubles were included. Congratulations!”

In the last five years, India has succeeded in incorporating its seven buildings / sites into UNESCO World Heritage.
The World Heritage Committee has changed the names of these grand groups of buildings to “Victoria Gothic and Art Deka Insubels of Mumbai”, which India considered.
It is the 37th Indian site to be included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
In terms of number of world heritage, India has become the second largest Asia-Pacific country after China. That’s the sixth place in the world.
Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma congratulated the whole country on this historic achievement through a tweet.
