A senior journalist in Jammu and Kashmir’s capital Srinagar and some unknown assailants of Shujaat Bukhari, editor of Raising Kashmir, have shot dead.

It is being condemned in the journalist community and political circles.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “The murder of Rising Kashmir’s editor Shujaat Bukhari is the work of cowardice. It is an attempt to suppress the thoughts of Kashmir. He was a brave and fearless journalist. ”
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mahbuba Mufti has tweeted, “I am shocked and very unhappy about the sudden death of Shujaat Bukhari. Terror has raised its ugly head on Eid’s eve. I strongly condemn violent acts. ”
Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “I am sad to hear the news of the murder of Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari. He was a brave man who fought with fearlessness in justice and peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior journalist Barkha Dutt has written, “My friend Shujaat Bukhari was a rare voice of restraint, which had never promoted the extremes. Those who did this with him go to hell. ”
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while referring to a tweet of Shujaat Bukhari, has written, “He was defending himself, his colleagues and his profession even on his last tweet. He was killed while performing his duty. ”
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has written, “It is very sad to know about the brutal murder of Sujat Bukhari, editor of Rising Kashmir. Extremists will not be successful in suppressing such thoughtful voices. ”
Actress Swara Bhaskar also tweeted, “The sad and horror news. Rising Kashmir’s editor Shujaat Bukhari and his PSO murdered extremists door. Distorted brain work. ”
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal has written, “Within hours of the OHCHR report on Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri journalist assassins Shuvat Bukhari: A terrible coincidence, raises serious questions – India has to investigate it. Should and should ensure that criminals are caught. ”
Pakistani journalist Hamir Mir has tweeted, “The most dangerous profession. Murder of another journalist In Srinagar, the knowledge about the killing of Shujaat Bukhari was very sad. ”
Before becoming the editor of Shujat Bukhari Rising Kashmir, 48-year-old, he was the correspondent of ‘The Hindu’ newspaper in Kashmir from 1997 to 2012.
Along with being a journalist, he was also campaigning to keep the local languages alive in Kashmir.
Shujaat Bukhari was attacked in the year 2000 and since then he got police protection. Shukat Bukhari had been active for a long time in restoring peace in Kashmir.
