In the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, the case of rape and murder that is being held with a minor child is constantly catching up in the state.
An eight-year-old girl was abducted and raped in January this year in Rasana village of Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua and was later murdered.
In this case, more than a dozen political and religious organizations had closed for one day in Jammu and adjoining areas on Wednesday, under the leadership of Jammu Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, stuck on demand for CBI probe.
The Bar Association had also included those demands for pressure on the state government, which has long been dragging between the coalition partners of the state coalition government.
The demand for sending Rohingya Muslims out of the Jammu region has emerged most vocal.
During the closing of the whole Jammu region on Wednesday, the general life was torn apart and most of the educational institutions were closed. At the same time, due to the shutdown of public transport, the speed of life got stuck for one day.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the state government had made adequate security arrangements and heavy security forces were deployed.
Leaders, activists and lawyers of various political parties, who came in support of the bandh, took out a tricolor rally and demanded Rohingya to get out of the city!
Additional Deputy Commissioner Arun Manhas, posted in Jammu, told BBC Hindi that the shutdown was completely peaceful and there was no information of any untoward incident from anywhere.
Arun Manhas said, “The government had deployed the appropriate number of security forces and sent the magistrate to the place and monitored all day.”
He believed that some educational institutions had closed schools and public transport was closed in view of the safety of children.
Trouble of tourists
During this, the tourists who came to Jammu had to face a lot of trouble as well as the common people were also impressed by this. Jammu has a partial impact of the shutdown in the city and its surroundings.
On the Jammu-Pathankot highway near Hiranagar, citizens protested by burning some tires, which caused traffic to be interrupted for a considerable time.
The effect of the shutdown in Rajouri and Tailh district is not equal to the same. But in Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, partial effect was effected and the effigies of the government burnt in place.
All members of the Kathua Bar Association performed in connection with filing a charge sheet on behalf of the Crime Branch, as they are demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Association president Kirti Bhushan Mahajan said that the Bar Association on the investigation of crime branch in the case is on strike and the CBI is in favor of investigation.
Question on inquiry
At the same time, Jammu Bar Association president BS Sultan, talking to the BBC, said, “We do not believe in the investigation conducted by the Crime Branch of the State Police.”
Sallathia said, “From the beginning, the fingers started to rise on the investigation by the crime branch.”
They said, “The officers of the Crime Branch were called from Kashmir under an assured conspiracy and they mistreated them with provocation and provoked them to prove the defamation of the people of Rasana village.
He also raised the finger on the investigating officers, who said that the officers who have given themselves punishment in the case of murder and rape, were chosen to investigate such a case.
After a long wait, the Crime Branch of the State Police filed the chargesheet in the court on Monday. Local lawyers tried to stop the crime branch’s team from filing charge sheet in the court.
What is the case
Among the slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, the lawyers allegedly reportedly tried to disperse the officers. The police had to intervene in order to overcome the protests of the lawyers.
After this the charge sheet could be filed against seven accused. The police came under pressure after attending government work and filed an FIR the next day.
According to the chargesheet filed in the court, the child was abducted and kept in a religious place premises. There he was repeatedly given intoxication. He was raped several times.
The victim’s father filed a report in connection with the disappearance of her child at Hiranagar police station on January 12.
They had told that their eight-year-old girl went to feed horses on January 10, and she did not return again. Police filed a report and started looking for the baby.
On 17th January, the body of the missing child was recovered from the forest. On January 23, the state government submitted the case to the crime branch.
