The central cabinet has approved the Ordinance to give punishment to the convicts in the case of rape with children upto 12 years of age.
After this, the court will now be able to hear the death sentence of the guilty in such cases.
Official sources said that through this ordinance amending the criminal law, new provisions will be brought in to the Protection of Child Protection Act (i.e. POXO Act) from the Indian Penal Code, Evidence Act, Criminal Procedure Code and Sexual Offenses, to prove the culprits in such cases. Death sentence can be heard.

About a week ago, Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi had said that the government will bring amendment to the Child Sexual Harassment Protection Act Poxo.
