CWG LIVE: Manika Batra gives 24th Gold

_100853202_gettyimages-945980142.jpgOn the 10th day of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the performance of Indian players has been fantastic. So far, Indian players have won eight gold medals in the day’s play.

In the women’s table tennis final, Manika Batra defeated Mengyu U of Singapore 11-7, 11-6, 11-2, 11-7 in consecutive games.

Earlier, Vinesh Phogat defeated Jessica McDonald of Canada in the 50 kg category final and gave India the first gold medal in women’s wrestling. Vineesh won gold in Glasgow Commonwealth Games four years ago.

Sumit Malik made the gold medal in 125kg men’s freestyle. He was a Nigerian wrestler who got out due to injury. Earlier, Sumit beat Tayyab Raza by 10-4 to Pakistan.

India has also won 21 gold medals in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

20-year-old Neeraj Chopra won gold medal at Javelin Throw.
Earlier, Indian boxer Gaurav Solanki won the 20th gold medal. He defeated Brendan Irwin in Northern Ireland in 53kg category of men.

Earlier, the shooter Sanjeev Rajput got the 19th gold medal, he got gold medal in 50m rifle three positions.

On 10th day, Indian boxer MC Mary Com gave India 18th gold medal.
Mary Kom won the Gold Medal by defeating Northern Ireland boxer Christina O Hara 4-0 in the women’s 48-kilogram category.

This is the first medal in five-time world champion Mary Com Commonwealth Games.

In the men’s 49kg category, Amit Pangal won silver medal.
However, in women’s hockey, the Indian team missed the bronze medal. In the match against the bronze medal, the women’s hockey team of England defeated India 6-0.
