Anjum Modgil: Painter who gave the silver in the shooting

_100832956_gettyimages-945064998Winning medal for India is not new to 24 year old young shooter Anjum Modgil.

Just last month, Anjum won silver medal in the World Cup – in 50-meter rifle 3 position category. Now the Commonwealth medal is also attached.

Anjum’s specialty is that he specializes in three different sections of the rifle shooting, which is not easy task – 10 meter air rifle, 50 meters prone and 50 meters 3 position.

DAV College student, Anjum’s grandson is from the Union Territory of Chandigarh, where many big players, including Olympic medalist shooter Abhinav Bindra, have emerged.

Anjum’s mother introduced her to shooting and then when she was NCC Cadet, she got an opportunity to learn and do the shooting properly. After starting with pistol, Anjum had to enter the rifle class because the pistol was not available.

Anjum represented Punjab in the National Shooting Championship and also won many medals. The years of the beginning were difficult. Necessary equipment could be found, no regular coach and injury from time to time on it.

Around the year 2013, Anjum took time to rejoin him while living in the junior team, he started joining with a regular coach. Anjum’s performance improved and he got a place in India’s team. After this, Anjum won many international medals.
Master’s degree in sports psychology

Meanwhile Anjum did not leave his studies. Beyond the shooting range, Anjum also holds a degree in Master of Sports Psychology.

His partner shooter Hina Sidhu, where doing drying and sketching, Anjum also makes a nice painting. In the bag there was a lot of stuff related to shooting, so he does not even forget to take a paintbrush.

On their Instagram account, Anjum keeps photographs of her paintings, she enjoys special skills in the painting of Buddha. Many people buy their paintings and they also give them as a gift.

In an interview recently given to The Sports website The Bridge, Anjum had told how his mother had to leave the shooting. But Anjum has fulfilled that incomplete dream to become a successful shooter.

Gold Coast was the first Commonwealth Games for Anjum and he has started well by winning medal here.
